Simple Meals Badge

Step One:

I went to my family's restaurant and my Dad showed me the kitchen and what everything does. My Dad is a chef so he has taught me about safety and food rules for years.

Step Two:

I made eggs for my family. I made over medium eggs for three people and scrambled eggs for two. I also made toast and warmed some bacon. We had fruit and tomatoes from our garden to complete the meal.

Step Three:

I made paninis. On a panini you can put many different ingredients like onions, ham, turkey, cheese, and lettuce on bread. Then you put it in a panini press for 5 minutes. Then take it out. I made paninis for a bunch, and helped people choose their ingredients.

Step Four:

For dessert, I went online and started searching. I looked through some images and found one that made me say "oo, that looks good."  There was a name with it so I looked the name up with the recipe. Then I brought my mom over and showed her to see if it was a good idea and she said yes so I made easy peanut butter no-bake chocolate bars. They were easy to make and tasty. They were very rich.

Step Five:

For this, I made a hamburger salad. You get lots of salad and put pieces of hamburger in it. You can put all your favorite burger toppings on it as well. It's like a burger without a bun. I like mine with ketchup, mayo, mustard, onions, cheese, pickles, and even a few tater tots!  It's yummy and I made it all myself!

Geocacher Badge, Part 2

Step 5:

We learned about Travel Bugs on geocache.com.  Travel Bugs go in geocache boxes. The person who starts the travel bug sets a goal for it. Then, when people find it they move it to another geocache and log the miles. We think they are cool. If I had a Travel Bug, I would start it in Germany and plan it to come back to Georgia. We saw many logs from Germany online.

Step 2:

We did a photo hunt. My mom and my sister went around the neighborhood and found coordinates for three things: a bush, a fake bunny, and a power box. I put the coordinates into an app and followed the map to those things.

This is the end of my geocacher badge. It was awesomely fun!

Geocacher Badge, Part 1

The first badge I worked on was the geocacher badge.

Step one:

I went to the geocache.com website and read about geocaching and how it works. I learned about different geocaching slang. My favorite term was "FTF" which means First To Find. I want to be the first to find a geocache someday!

(We skipped step two and will come back to that in a later post!)

Step three:

I made trade items for the geocache.  I talk about them in this video:

Step 4:

Then we went on a geocaching hiking adventure. We went on two geocaches at Tribble Mill Park. Here are some photos from our hike.

Here I am looking at the items in the geocache. Another girl scout troop left something!

The second cache was in a dead tree trunk!

I kept these binoculars!

Here I am writing my name in the logbook.

Then I put it back for someone else to find!

Here's a short interview I did with my Mom about geocaching.

I will also talk about step five in my next post!

Hello!

This is my girl scout blog. I will be doing badges and journeys for girl scouts. I will let you know what I do on this blog. Please send me questions or comments. Thank you for reading!
